A few nights ago I decided to create a before dinner ritual to do once everyone is seated at the table. I decided to do this for a few reason. 1. To raise (and turn my husband into) communicators. 2. To teach everyone in our house to focus on the positive of our day, not the negative. 3. Because just asking "how was your day" wasn't working in our house. And 4. To end our day on a positive note!
Before telling you what the ritual is let me tell you what dinner time used to be like......screaming demands, crankiness from the day, electronics blaring, and just pure craziness! Not my most proud part of the day as a mother & wife. :) And now it's patiently waiting for our new ritual which leads into happy conversation for the rest of dinner. Aaahhh.
So the dinner time ritual is..... simply going around the table and saying what you are thankful for today and what your favorite part of the day was. So simple and easy but has had a HUGE impact on all of us. The kids love hearing that our favorite part of the day had something to do with them and our kids say the sweetest things it literally brings tears to my eyes! I am so happy we are doing this and would recommend this to anybody experiencing what we were. And if for nothing else to just hear the fun things your kiddos &/or spouse comes up with!
And here's some random photos because it just feels weird to do a post without pictures.............
